Practice Safe Wine!

Caution Wine Arsenic

The presence of arsenic in levels higher than California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment’s (OEHHA) Safe Harbor Levels (available here) is causing quite a stir. hosts the court document and some choice excerpts, as well as the list of wines specifically under the microscope. The Wine Institute makes some good counter points, and I like the approach Snopes takes to these types of headline news stories. Mac’s will calmly operate as we were before this information came to light while patiently awaiting either additional label information or clearer (more wine-centric) OEHHA regulations.
